Maya Suess
Maya Suess, is an artist and curator. Her performative installations use music, playful aesthetics and wit to examine issues of identity, sexuality and personal responsibility. She is a 2011 resident at 3Legged Dog in NYC NY, was a 2009 fellow at the BRIC/Rotunda Gallery in Brooklyn NY, and a recipient of a 2009 Independent Artist’s Grant from the New York State Council on the Arts. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and theatres in the US, Canada, Europe and Japan. She holds a BFA in Media Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and an MFA in contemporary performance from Simon Fraser University. born on a small island off the coast of western Canada, today she lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
